E157 - Jamie Peacock: Being the best at the things that require no talent
In the third of our series to celebrate the Rugby League World Cup, we are delighted to welcome Jamie Peacock, a man who has burnished his legendary status within the sport, by consistently doing “the things that require no talent” at the very moments when the pressure is at its greatest, the margins are at their narrowest and the competition is at its fiercest. In turn, he has acquired a medal haul which would fill a museum. He shares with us the transferrable lessons learnt along the way and which can be adopted into your own life.
Jamie was a leader through his example and helped shaped high performance cultures at Bradford, Leeds and England. The foundation stone on which these were built were accountability. “Tell people what you are going to do, then do it” is his succinct message. “This is how trust is created, nurtured and maintained.”
This is a powerful, profound and incredibly practical interview which will leave you ready to create your own high performance culture.

They discuss how we can spot ego within other people and how we can direct them through it. Ryan explains the importance of living a disciplined life, the benefits it offers, how we cannot put it upon other people and how you can instil it in your life.

E155 - Lindsey Burrow: Finding reasons to live
High performance is many things too many people. For some, it's winning the coveted prizes. For others, it's being held in the highest esteem. Sometimes, it's about showing up, day after day, being courageous in the face of adversity.
Today's High Performance Podcast guest is one half of an incredible team who have achieved all those definitions of high performance. It’s our privilege to welcome Lindsey Burrow as the latest guest in our series to celebrate the Rugby League World Cup.
Lindsey's husband, Rob was a stand-out star of the sport, a titan in a world of giants. He was central to the all conquering Leeds Rhinos era of dominance. In 2019, he was diagnosed with the cruel illness of Motor Neurone Disease. It's a battle he chose to fight on his own terms.
Facing this battle alongside him was Lindsey, his childhood sweetheart and mother to their three children. In this moving discussion, she shares how identifying a sense of purpose - to give hope and inspiration to others - has been important in maintaining their strength; she offers insights into the mental ability she has learned to be able to provide a stable, living home for their family and finally, she explains why Rob's 'no tears' policy has given them a resolve in the face of the most unimaginable pain.

E152 - Sam Burgess: How you do anything, is how you do everything
We at HP are hugely excited for the start of the Rugby League World Cup 2021 so sent the Professor to record a series of interviews with some of the sports greatest names, where they share the insights, lessons and techniques they have used to scale their chosen heights.
In the first of this series, we welcome the magnificent Sam Burgess, the unassuming lad from Bradford who became a modern day gladiator in an unforgiving business.
Sam shared the heartache of nursing his dad through his battle against the cruel Motor Neurone Disease, whilst trying to break through as a teenage tyro at Bradford Bulls RLFC. "My Dad had to squeeze a lifetime of lessons into the short time he had left", Sam explained.
Once he'd established his reputation in England, he re-set his ambitions and chose to take on the challenge of conquering Australia's National Rugby League when joining South Sydney Rabbitohs, owned by actor Russell Crowe. He describes the process of changing mindsets and shaping a winning culture from the perspective of leading a dressing room.
"The question I learned to ask is: when things are tough, do I want you stood next to me?"
We are confident you'll want to hear this absorbing discussion in its full, frank and fascinating detail. Thank you Sam.
